Tony Awards Watch: Merrily We Roll Along, Lempicka, Hell's Kitchen, and More Celebrate Becoming Tony Nominees

After a big Tony nomination day, these Broadway favorites couldn't keep their excitement contained.

Tony nominations are out, and Broadway is pretty pumped about it.

After the big announcement April 30, shows and stars have been celebrating becoming 2024 Tony nominees. We heard from lots of them (both play nominees and musical nominees) yesterday in the hours after the nomination list dropped, but it turns out the celebrating continued when it was show time at the nominees' respective theatres, too.

The cast and crew of Stereophonic marked becoming not only the most Tony-nominated production of the season (along with fellow 13-time nominee Hell's Kitchen), but also the most Tony-nominated play in Broadway history with a little bubbly in front of the Golden Theatre. See a shot from the event above.

Things got a little meta over at the Hudson, home to Best Revival of a Musical nominee Merrily We Roll Along. The show's second act opens with "It's a Hit!," a song in which the characters celebrate their Broadway musical getting rapturous applause on its opening night. Once they get to the portion talking about the possibility of Tony Awards... well, as you'll see, the synchronicity was just too perfect. Company member Corey Mach captured the moment from backstage.

Over at the Longacre, Lempicka stars Eden Espinosa and Amber Iman—both of whom earned their first Tony nominations for their performances in the musical April 30—got some extra Tony love at curtain call. Brava!

There was a similar situation over at the Shubert, where the cast and company of Hell's Kitchen performed the Alicia Keys jukebox musical for the first time after getting an astounding 13 nominations including Best Musical. But Hell's Kitchen didn't just mark the occasion with extra adoring cheers—they came with special celebratory props. Their Instagram doesn't allow embedding, but you can see the special curtain call .

At the Bernard B. Jacobs, The Outsiders marked being the third most-nominated show of the season—12 nods including Best Musical! This company decided to celebrate before the evening's performance, letting loose in the house before the audience arrived. Get a peek inside the private celebration for the cast and crew below.

Winners will be named at the 77th Annual Tony Awards, set for June 16 at Lincoln CenterÃÎÁµÖ±²¥ David H. Koch Theater. The evening will kick off with The Tony Awards: Act One, streaming for free on Pluto TV. Details are to be announced. The 77th Annual Tony Awards will follow beginning at 8 PM ET, broadcasting live on CBS (check local listings) and streaming live (for premium-level subscribers) via Paramount+. All Paramount+ subscribers will have on demand access to the broadcast beginning June 17. Stage and screen star Ariana DeBose will be back for the third consecutive year to host.
